All things must pass, George Harrison used to say, and it’s true – we’ve reached the finale of our first season! Over the past year, we’ve aimed to present hard-hitting cultural analysis along with little pearls of wisdom, as well as honest advice and stories drawn from our own lives and presented truthfully, no matter the cost. So it felt right to wrap up the season with a look back at those moments from the show that really seemed to touch our listeners deeply: the ads. By popular demand, we present all of the first season’s advertisements back-to-back-to-ever-loving BACK! Plus, a never-released ad the censors deemed “too hot for TV”! You’ve been warned.

Are you geared up for season two? Let us know!

Searching for the American dream? Head north to everyone’s favorite wacky “neighbour” – Canada! Canada’s not just the home of Americans’ imaginary girlfriends, it’s also a real country! And the dudes explore it all this week: from moose and poutine all the way to the Queen! In the Q&A, our heroes pick their all-time favorite books (as opposed to that “brand new” stuff the critics review). Finally, in SRSG, Josh laments the death of the planet but laughs it off at a comedy show, while Eric bemoans the lack of mail forwarding before recommending a book

Did your first girlfriend “live in Canada”, too? Tell us her name!

Josh and Eric crack open the vault this week, reliving classic slights from high school that still have the power to rankle! In the Q&A, the lads counsel any listeners nervous about their first professional massage (hint: ask for the happy ending). Finally, the happy meds are flowing in SRSG as Eric recommends a movie and a self-serving album while Josh endorses a TV show and a band.

Welcome to a new year! (Surprised we made it this far? So are we!) Josh and Eric kick off 2017 by discussing their new year’s resolutions. In Q&A they get philosophical, deciding which food they would eat if they could only eat one food forever: an age-old question, resolved at last! Finally, in SRSG, Eric pans earbuds but praises an old movie, while Josh gripes about e-mail chains before reminiscing about a waterpark.

In this episode, the lads discuss the ancient art of karaoke – stories, tips, tricks, and (if you’re lucky!) no singing. In the Q&A, the boys consider which long-lost TV shows are due for a modern reboot. Finally in SRSG, Eric is angry at croissants but recommends a book, while Josh is angry at loud motorcyclists but recommends a book.

In a very brave, very special One Armed Pushup, Josh opens up about his years of addiction and reveals how he is overcoming his demons day-by-day. Then a listener asks about platitudes in the Q&A, and the lads have some platitudinous answers. In SRSG, Josh whines his way to the gym before praising a cookbook, while Eric laments the time change and becomes holier-than-thou about Facebook.

Should we love or hate travel? The boys can’t give a straight answer but still find the time to reminisce about topless tanning. In the Q&A, Josh and Eric break down the results of the U.S. Presidential election. In SRSG, Eric condemns texting while driving but recommends a podcast series, while Josh laments new teeth problems before soothing his pain with a book.

It’s the Trumpocalypse! In a special bonus episode, the boys rant about the U.S. Presidential Election and the coming administration. Should you be scared? Who’s to blame? Was the election rigged? Is there a silver lining? If you’re concerned by a Trump presidency, what can you do?

It’s like the Super Bowl, Halloween, and Flag Day all rolled into one: Election Day! Strap in and listen as Josh and Eric discuss our presidential candidates and America’s required post-election shower. In the Q&A, Josh and Eric bicker about sugar: is it really a type of poison, or is it perhaps the only sliver of joy a weary nation has left? Finally, in SRSG, Josh pans over-the-counter drug efficacy but praises the fifth-largest city in Ohio, while Eric rails against food waste but fawns over a TV show.

Did you know online privacy means more than just hiding dick pics from your family? It’s true! This week Josh and Eric investigate the current state of electronic privacy and (spoiler alert) it’s not pretty. In the Q&A, the boys ponder whether conflict is necessary for amusement. Maybe? And in SRSG, Eric calls out artisinal doughnuts but raves about a documentary, while Josh reveals how a simple onion ring disrupted an otherwise great meal at the Oinkster.

Flying is basically rocketing through the air in a metal tube – shouldn’t we ALL be afraid? Yes! But this week, Josh and Eric try to overcome their internal turbulence through some cognitive behavioral therapy. In the Q&A, the lads receive a series of queries from super-fan Derek Pinkle. Finally, in SRSG, Eric complains about the TSA before rejuvenating with a nap, while Josh is baffled by a blender but praises Popstar.

Imagine a world where nobody tips. Is it a world gone mad…or a beautiful utopia? That’s the question the lads tackle this week as they discuss the nuances of tipping and how it screws with the collective psyche. Next, a listener asks if it’s possible for a cake to be too moist? Well, DUH! Finally, great meds allow Josh and Eric to overcome their inherent grumpiness in a very special ALL-GREEN SRSG! Eric recommends a book and a website, while Josh talks about a movie that’s older than his girlfriends and a book that is younger.

It’s time we discussed the most important, serious, and potentially-divisive issue currently threatening the fabric of our noble nation: pet owners gone wild. Laughs, insights, and mass cancellations ensue! In Q&A, the lads lighten the mood with a cookie break. Will shortbread cookies win the day? Sneak preview: no. Finally, in SRSG, Josh can’t stand the heat but eagerly stands the Getty Museum, while Eric critiques “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” before praising another TV series.

It’s a handy guide for the modern jet-setter this week as Josh and Eric discuss ways to get the most out of air travel. In the Q&A, a listener catches her son defiling socks and asks how best to give him “the talk” – as if the dudes have any insight! Finally, in SRSG, Josh updates us on his gum grafts and praises Sicario while Eric laments smart-assed co-workers and recommends Happy Valley

This week, the lads journey to the “Land of Flowers” (Florida, or “America’s Wang”). Eric tries to argue that the unique combination of elderly Jews, rednecks, Cubans, tourists, oranges, sinkholes, humidity, craven developers, hurricanes, gators, hedonists, and giant rats make Florida “crazy”, but Josh steps up to defend his home state. In the Q&A, the boys try to define vagina “hounds”. Lastly, in SRSG, Eric decries anal bleaching but praises a good book, while Josh loves baseball but takes umbrage with dumb business names.

Josh comes down with a case of the receding gum-lines, inspiring a rollicking discussion of surgeries, health insurance, and socialized medicine! In the Q&A, Josh and Eric attempt to determine their least popular opinions: it’s pigeon birth-control vs. Billy Joel all over again! Josh’s ire carries over into SRSG as he rails against Ranch dressing before finding a happy place among his rubber erasers, while Eric praises another thick and tasty book and shares the crushing stress of traveling with infants.

A presidential election’s afoot, and the dudes have a lot to say! It’s not what you’ve already heard, so maybe that’s a good thing? Getting serious for a moment, J&E determine the right way to hang toilet paper in the Q&A. Finally, Eric praises another grim movie and complains about cursing, while Josh finishes Moby Dick and rages against the persistence of laundry spots.

The lads quake in their boots this week as they discuss their deepest fears; sadly, their fears are pretty lame. Then they tackle a Q&A backlog with a rapid-fire roundup edition! Finally, SRSG is a special all-food edition:  Eric trashes corn and savors elkeroni while Josh praises the Take 5 reboot yet longs for the crackerjack days of old. Strap in as two out-of-touch old guys bemoan the death of rock & roll. Josh coins the term Troubadour Rock (trademark 2016!) and explains its characteristics (amateurish, twee) and why it sucks. Next, “Paper or plastic?” dominates the Q and A. Finally, Eric talks silicone spray and organ donation in SRSG, while Josh decries short hems and praises Patton.

We’d like to discuss the happiest place on Earth this week, but we’ll settle for Disneyland. Josh is enthusiastic about his recent trip to the Land of Diz, but Eric’s concerned he might have inadvertently supported fascism! In the Q and A, the dudes discuss the worst gift they’ve ever received. Finally, Eric laments his lack of adult talk and swoons over big-city news, while Josh decries discrimination against 40-year-old white men and gives a shout-out to Midnight Special.

Eric tries to engage Josh in a discussion of EDM, but things quickly spiral out of control as the boys segue to the Village People, sodomy, white privilege, toy guns, and growing up in the South. In the QA, a listener wonders whether he and his wife’s new friends might be swingers. And in “Seeing Red, Seeing Green,” Eric complains about capes and onesies but gives props to the U.S. Consulate, while Josh is happy to be a man but sad to be a man watching the Bachelor.

First comes love, then comes marriage – so they say, but are schoolyard rhymes always right? In this ep, Josh and Eric cover all things marriage-related: ceremonies, destination weddings, raising children, adopting children, untraditional marriages, and how easy it is to untie the knot. Destination wedding in Bora Bora, anyone? In “Seeing Red, Seeing Green,” Josh rages at his calorie-counter before sharing a listener’s art project, and Eric is disappointed when you feed the wildlife but is heartened by a Miley Cyrus song

It’s time to bunk up and discuss having roommates.  Josh is pro; Eric is con; nobody is a winner. Afterwards, the boys give some serious relationship advice to a lovelorn listener.  In “Seeing Red, Seeing Green,” Eric compares the U.S. to Eritrea before lightening the mood with another TV series recommendation while Josh gets emotional reminiscing about New Orleans.

It’s time for comedy, which means people other than Josh and Eric! The boys have a relatively serious talk about their favorite comedians and what each does best – because nothing’s funnier than explaining a joke! Then J&E advise an American high-schooler holding fast to pencils in a digital world – a sad legacy of the Obama presidency. “Seeing Red, Seeing Green” covers magic, boats (but not magical boats), avocados, and pajamas (but not avocado pajamas).

Josh and Eric are two old Gen Xers who don’t understand what Instagram is for, but Josh tries explaining social media to Eric, including why Facebook is the new AOL. In the Q&A, the dudes reveal how much they bench, their cereal preferences, and how to deal with a wayward trombonist. “Seeing Red, Seeing Green” covers dog/bike accidents, electronic vampires, the Magic of Math, and the Simpsons.
